Animals close up: RoBirtok is the best children’s programme also for Santa Claus!

Less than half an hour's drive from Budapest, in Kosd, on the side of the Naszály Hill, you will find a lovely family farm where you can look after horses, pigs, coatis and alpacas, taste good food and forget the rush for a day or more. And in December, Santa Claus will also arrive at RoBirtok.

It all started with a horse, “who” initially moved into the yard of the house of Róbert Gyetvai and Anikó Gyetvainé Zováth and their four children in Kosd. Thanks to the family’s love for animals, the Gyetvai family bought a plot of land on the Naszály side of the village, and the RoBirtok (lit. ‘Rob’s Estate’), which bears the first name of the head of the family, grew out of it. Here, city kids can get away from the gadgets and experience life on a real farm. They can taste freshly milked milk, take part in feeding and caring for the animals, jump in the straw bouncer and enjoy delicious, home-made food and cakes.

Farm animals and exotic pets

On the farm, you will find all the animals you’d expect to find in a village hall: pigs, cows, sheep, horses, rabbits. However, there are also fallow deer, alpacas, coatis and kangaroos, which you can also meet up close. Every hour you can enter a different animal runway and help feed them, or even walk an alpaca. In addition, we can find out why we shouldn’t call a fallow deer a roe deer, even if they do look alike. The estate’s guesthouse is special: a glass panel has been built into the floor, so that guests staying in the guesthouse can keep an eye on the guinea pig family from above.

Santa Claus is coming!

One of the most important events of the upcoming winter will be the two Santa Claus weekends at RoBirtok. On 3 and 4 December, and on 10 and 11 December, in addition to the petting zoos, there will be family games, cocoa, children’s punch and, of course, Santa Claus himself and the parcels he will be handing out. To keep the family atmosphere, you must register in advance on their website. This also applies to the season of individual visits to the estate from spring to late autumn, when only a limited number of guests can be guaranteed a high level of service and personal attention, which the owners are keen to maintain. During the winter, in addition to the the themed weekends, the estate only welcomes groups, whether they are children or groups of adults looking for a team-building experience. However, the guesthouse is open, and you can enjoy the beauty of the Naszály Hill from its terrace with a unique panoramic view. Staying here feels like having your own country house! In the winter chill, you can warm up in the hot tub and fully give yourself over to relaxation.

In the winter of 2022, RoBirtok is already preparing for the next spring season: in addition to the usual renovation and conservation work, the event cellar will be built, which will be the venue for team-building weekends and other group events such as pálinka tastings, together with the outdoor riding arena, where children and adults will be able to learn the basics of horse riding with expert help.
