The heart of Hungarian Christmas: the Bethlehem (Nativity scene) in Vörs
This year, the church in Vörs will once again be bathed in festive lights, welcoming visitors with one of the largest traditionally built indoor nativity scenes in Hungary and Europe. A tradition spanning several decades lives on: locals lovingly create this unique miniature world by hand, with meticulous care, which is visited by thousands of people every winter. The mossy rocks, candlelight, small village scenes, and the silence surrounding the Holy Family evoke both the intimacy of Christmas and the beauty of rural Hungarian traditions. Visiting the nativity scene is a slow, contemplative experience: an opportunity to step out of the rush and rediscover the essence of the holiday.
