Elegant waterfront ambiance and hearty breakfasts at the REED Boutique Hotel

At the bistro belonging to the REED Boutique Hotel in Siófok, you can enjoy breakfast in a “Maldives-style atmosphere” – whether as a hotel guest or a walk-in visitor. At the restaurant, led by Executive Chef Gábor Krausz, you can sit down for a light brunch, or book a table for a business lunch or a romantic dinner. Breakfast plays a special role at REED: you can choose from fresh pastries, fruits, egg dishes, and a variety of other high-quality options.

Thanks to its elegant interior and proximity to Lake Balaton, this adult-friendly restaurant has a particularly cozy atmosphere – it’s definitely worth booking a room here. From the hotel, you can easily explore Siófok’s bustling waterfront or simply spend a relaxing wellness day at REED.

Culinary experiences for all generations at the Zichy Family Experience Estate

At the Zichy Family Experience Estate in Bikács, breakfasts and dinners are given almost as much emphasis as relaxation itself. At this baby-friendly complex, the focus is on shared, relaxed meals, all in an atmosphere that feels just like being at Grandma’s house. In the baby- and child-friendly restaurant, classic Hungarian dishes are prepared using fresh, local ingredients, based on the culinary traditions of Tolna County and recipes from the Lake Tisza region.

We can start our mornings at a leisurely pace at the experience farm: while the “egg-frying lady” prepares the omelette in the open kitchen, we can choose from homemade jams, fresh breads, and warm French toast. At the kids’ counter, the little ones can help themselves to colourful and tasty dishes, while the youngest guests can explore new flavours with the help of BoriBari during the weaning period. One of the highlights of the buffet dinners is the “Grandma’s Favourite” surprise dish, while meals are continuously prepared fresh in the open kitchen. There is direct access from the restaurant to the playroom, so parents can relax and finish their dinner – perhaps with a glass of wine – while the children play within sight.

A Culinary Detour to a 19th-Century Watermill: Almalomb

Almalomb in Hosszúhetény is a culinary retreat housed in a 19th-century watermill. The latest addition to the Culinary Meeting Place – which primarily serves as an event venue – is the apartment building, a complex of buildings under architectural protection. The cozy little farmhouse, also dating from the early 19th century, features 6 rooms renovated in various styles. As we have come to expect from the owners of Almalomb (and from Ybl Prize-winning architect Margit Pelényi, who collaborated on the renovation); they have reimagined the early 19th-century cottage with the utmost respect for architectural traditions and in the spirit of sustainability. Their taste is admirable, as they enliven the superb elements of folk architecture with exciting contemporary solutions. If you stay here, expect a magnificent breakfast, an integral part of which is their own roasted whole-bean coffee and coffee packed in home-compostable capsules: AlmalombCoffee. When you’re here, be sure to visit the mill museum and take a pleasant stroll among the buildings; countless surprises await you.

Where flavours are born from the spirit of the place – Culinary experiences at the five-star Mythos Resor

Set on nearly 14 hectares of land amidst the natural surroundings of Domony Valley lies the incredibly charming, five-star Mythos Resort, where guests can choose from a variety of accommodation styles. The estate’s acacia grove is home to 25 luxury forest lodges – each equipped with some form of private spa facility, whether an infrared cabin, outdoor jacuzzi, sauna, or indoor freestanding tub – but you can also stay in one of the traditional, rustic-style houses evoking the atmosphere of Hungarian folk architecture. Between the two accommodation areas lies a bathing lake and an adjoining bathhouse, featuring an infinity pool and a sauna complex.

The culinary offerings at Mythos are also outstanding: Coach Bistro reinterprets Hungarian bistro cuisine with Mediterranean lightness, seasonal ingredients, and a refined yet rich flavour profile, while the Windsor Bar evokes the world of English aristocratic elegance – here, a lighter lunch menu and a wide selection of drinks are available. Together, the two form a cohesive whole in which the tranquillity of breakfast, the light-heartedness of the day, the sophistication of evening dinners, and the more intimate atmosphere of the bar reveal different facets of the same high-quality hospitality. Another strength of the Mythos Resort is its commitment to equestrian culture, as well as its very wide range of related programs: for example, you can participate in family carriage rides, horse shows, and pony programs, and there is also a playhouse and a petting zoo on the estate.

A wine press house turned retreat, featuring farm-fresh delicacies at Eged Lodge

Whether you’re traveling with kids or just as a couple, Eged Lodge is a superb choice. This accommodation, converted from a wine press house in Szőlőcske, is a true gem. With its stunning panoramic views, eye-catching interior, and neat little garden (oh, those cherry trees!), it’s sure to sweep you off your feet. This cozy little cottage, comfortable for four people, offers a fulfilling stay in every season, whether you’re looking for a relaxing getaway or an active vacation. The Lodge is located in the heart of the Eger wine region, halfway between Eger and Noszvaj – and the surrounding area is home to excellent wineries, spas, and restaurants. If you feel like going on an outing, climb Nagy-Eged Mountain or visit the Szomolya beehive stones!

The sumptuous breakfast is delivered to your door by Zsenge in Noszvaj. The seasonally changing package includes all kinds of farm-fresh delicacies that are a feast for the eyes and the palate: a selection of cheeses and salamis, eggs, yogurt, crispy sausages, vegetables, fruits, milk, orange juice, and freshly baked bread. What’s more, you can request the package in lactose-free, gluten-free, or vegan versions.
